Garrett Vortex VX9 Metal Detector

The garrett vortex vx9 metal detector is built around a high-resolution ground balance system that adapts to challenging soil, including saltwater and highly mineralized ground, which is why this garrett vortex metal detector shows up on so many serious detectorists' shortlists. As a garrett metal detector vortex owners can fully submerge, the VX9 is rated to 16 feet (5 meters), opening up lakes, streams, and ocean-adjacent hunting that land-only machines can't touch.

• Fully submersible to 16 feet (5 meters) for lake, stream, and ocean hunting
• High-resolution ground balance adapts to saltwater and highly mineralized soil
• Five selectable single frequencies - 5, 9, 13, 18, and 25 kHz - plus simultaneous multi-frequency operation
• Simple menu controls for Volume, Iron Volume, 8-level Sensitivity, Iron Discrimination, Recovery Speed, Backlight, and Wireless
• Built-in lithium-ion battery rated for up to 15 hours per charge, charged via USB-C

Anyone comparing a garrett vortex vx9 review against the rest of the lineup will notice the frequency spread is the widest in the vortex garrett metal detector family, which is the main reason this model carries the highest garrett vortex metal detector price of the three.

The VX9 suits detectorists who already know they want maximum control over frequency selection and plan to hunt a mix of environments - dry parks, mineralized fields, and wet sand or shallow water. If you're searching for a garrett vortex 9 metal detector specifically because you've outgrown an entry-level machine, the five-frequency spread and full multi-frequency mode make this the detector built for that transition. Hunters who only need a single reliable frequency and a lighter investment are usually better served by the VX5 or VX7.
